Gardening Wagon Planters
Gardening wagon planters are a great way to spruce up the home or office entrance. Wagon planters are wagons made of wood or wire and can house a wide assortment of flowers in them. Since the wagons can easily be pushed around it is not only easier to expose them to adequate sunlight when required but it is also convenient to keep changing their locations as per our needs.
Wagon containers give an ample choice to those interested in gardening to experiment with a variety of flowers and leaves. We can also add to the grandeur of a wagon display by adding some tiny artifacts here and there along with the flower arrangements. Apart from the conventional wooden and wire wagons we can also use the children’s wagon that is lying around the house as a discarded item.
Though gardening wagon planters are unique and exclusive in their own ways we should take note of some small details and plan them out carefully so that our wagon garden is a total spectacular delight for others to see.
Lets look at some of the important points that should be kept in mind before you start your work on a wagon planter: -
1. Since plant need container that can drain therefore remember to drill holes through the bottom of the wagon planter.
2. Select a soil mixture for potted plants. These mixtures are light- weight and can retain water. Adding a few granules of water-holding polymer is also recommended since they help in conserving water.
3. Frequent watering of plants may often deprive the soil of its nutrients so using a water- soluble fertilizer will be a good idea.
4. Try giving an exotic look to the wagon planter by planting flowers of different heights, textures and shapes.
5. It will be a wise decision to add a variety of leaves as well since the flowers may not always be in bloom.
6. Plant more annuals. This is because perennials have a shorter bloom period and are not very ideal for containers.
7. Be very careful about choosing a color scheme for the flower arrangement that you have in mind. You can either use a monochromatic scheme whereby you can use different hues of a particular color or you can also blend more than one color. However be careful about not choosing colors that may clash with each other.
8. All the plants that are planted in the container should have a similar requirement for water and sunlight. This will prevent them from getting over nourished as well as under nourished.
If we meticulously follow the above tips we can be sure to convert our wagon planter into a paragon of vibrant flowers. The only downside to planting flowers in a wagon or container is that they will essentially need frequent watering. The reason being that potted plants cannot stretch their roots beyond a certain limit, which causes them to dry faster. So make sure that you water them well enough so that they don’t wither away before time.
